Ricing season is almost here! Due to high water levels this year, the wild rice is taking a little long to reach the top of the water and mature. For those already signed up for class, you will be recieveing a call in the next week or two for a date, time and place for class.
There is still space in this class you are intrested in learning about wild rice harvesting. The Leech Lake Department of Resource Management (DRM) is making a special allowance for those who are non-native and live off-reservation, to be able to participate.
A MN State ricing license (approx. $30) can be purchased at Froggy Sports south of Cass Lake on Hwy. 371. A reservation license ($2) must be purchased from DRM, which is located across the street from Froggy Sports. Please have your license purchased BEFORE class takes place.
Please call me, Amy, at 218-335-4244 for more details and to register for this FREE class.
